MiQRP Annual Picnic

Please RSVP Here

Come join us for some QRP fun, food and prizes.

Address: 8555 Knapp Road, Houghton Lake, MI

We have pavilion number one reserved for our picnic. It is the pavilion closer to the (paved) parking lot than the pavilion at Bear Creek Park.

Detailed Directions
The park is located directly behind the Roscommon Twp hall at the above address. It is located back from the southwest 'corner' of Houghton lake (the lake, not the village) around about a mile or two. Best access in most cases is to approach Houghton Lake on US-127.

Those coming in from points west will want to use M-55. From the east (Oscoda, West Branch, etc) also use M-55. Regardless - look for the intersection of M-55 and Old 27, identified by one of the few traffic lights and the State Police Post. Turn south past the Police Post. About a mile south is Knapp Rd. You can only turn the right way which is east, as Knapp road doesn't continue west across Old 27. There is a huge sign pointing to The Brook Retirement Home. The Township Hall and park are just about 'next door neighbors' to The Brook.

Club Field Event - right after Holly Breakfast

We have the Dickerson shelter reserved all day. It is number 14 on the
park map. It is only 3.1 miles from the Villagers Restaurant. Have
breakfast as usual and then head over to the park. The shelter is big
enough to accommodate 15 to 20 people so even if the weather does not
cooperate we will be OK. If you have the annual state park pass, you
are all set. Day passes are available. You could even car pool from
the restaurant if you want. The parking lot is very close to the
shelter and so are the toilets. No running water, sorry. Modern
restrooms with flush toilets are a short drive away. The shelter is on
the opposite side of the lake from the beaches and swimming areas. It
should be a nice quite spot to operate.
